Turkey provokes again on the eve of the 50th Anniversary of the Cyprus Invasion: “I may come suddenly one night”

Celebratory atmosphere from the Turkish Ministry of Defense - One video shows military forces approaching a shore, another includes footage from 1974

Newsroom July 19 09:01

On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus invasion, the Turkish Ministry of Defense has released a series of provocative videos.

One of the videos begins with the lyrics of a song: “Don’t call me so sincerely, I might come suddenly one night…” The ministry, in a celebratory tone, showcases the Turkish Armed Forces.

The footage depicts a naval and aerial operation approaching a shore, and concludes with a scene of Mehmed II the Conqueror entering Constantinople.

“In the 50th anniversary of ‘Operation Peace Spring,’ we honor with reverence, gratitude, and respect the heroic martyrs and veterans of our heroic army who ended the oppression experienced by our Turkish Cypriot compatriots in Cyprus,” the announcement states.

The message adds, “Tomorrow, we are expecting all our Cypriot brothers at the parade, which will feature the participation of 50 ships.”

Bu kadar yürekten çağırma beni,
Bir gece ansızın gelebilirim… ??

“Happy 50th anniversary of ‘Operation Peace Spring,’ where our heroic Turkish Armed Forces brought peace and security to Cyprus. We honor our martyrs and veterans with compassion, gratitude, and respect, and we always feel the pain of our compatriots who were brutally murdered by the Greek terrorist organization,” the statement reads.
