Evia: Big fire, burning near houses – 112 sounded, see video

14 air support aircrafts have been raised for the extinguishing operation - The fire is moving between Petries and Krieza

A major fire is raging between two villages in Evia, with the fire brigade constantly reinforcing forces and the Civil Protection sending three 112 messages.

The fire broke out between the village of Petries and Krieza in a wooded area near houses.

Shortly before 15:30, a 112 message was sent to residents of the area about the fire which reads, “remain alert and follow the instructions of the authorities.”

In the second 112 message, shortly after 15:45, residents were asked to move away from Krieza to Lepoura and Velo and from Koskina to Zarakes and Mesochoria

A few minutes later, they were called to evacuate from Petries to Aghios Apostolous.

 

In the afternoon it was announced that 90 firefighters with 2 teams of hikers, 30 vehicles, 11 aircraft and 3 helicopters including one for coordination were operating.
