We will head into August 15 with heat and windy weather, according to meteorologists, with the weather conditions favoring the start and spread of fire.

North winds in the Aegean Sea will reach 6 to 7 and on Sunday possibly even 8 Beaufort, keeping the temperature in the windward areas at bearable levels.

However, in the interior of the mainland the temperature will reach and in some places exceed 38 degrees, especially in western Greece during the week of August 15, where it is expected to reach 40 degrees.

According to the director of EMY Thodoros Kolydas, the weather will be generally clear in most of the country with enhanced winds in two periods, on Sunday 11/8 and on the day of 15/8 at 6 to 7 and locally at 7 to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea. Temperatures are stable at levels about 4 degrees above normal, but not at extremes, with an average temperature in our country around 35°C.

In a post on Facebook, Klearchos Marousakis refers to the weather in the run-up to August 15. OPEN’s meteorologist notes that weather conditions will be unchanged “until August 15, with winds in the Aegean dominating, heat showing its teeth to the west and south and showers persisting in mountains mainly on the mainland. In short, typical summer weather”.

Very high fire risk in the islands of the northern Aegean and Crete

In orange, i.e. in very high fire risk, are on the relevant forecast map for today, Saturday, August 10, 7 island regions of the country.

The weather today

Sunshine is forecast with a few clouds, gradually increasing during the warm hours on the mainland, with local rain in the mountains of the Peloponnese and possibly in Central Central Central Greece. Visibility in the evening and early morning hours may be limited in the western parts.
