The firefighter took a brief moment to catch his breath outside the Penteli Children's Hospital

Newsroom August 12 08:51

From 3 PM yesterday, hundreds of firefighters have been waging a titanic and uneven battle against the fire in northeastern Attica, which initially broke out in the Varnava area and has now reached Penteli, threatening Nea Makri as well.

As the fire department spokesperson noted in his first briefing on Monday morning, “All Civil Protection forces fought hard throughout the night, and despite their superhuman efforts, the fire spread rapidly.”
