Polakis announces a motion of no confidence against Kasselakis & his candidacy for the leadership of SYRIZA

"Whatever needs to be done will be done in an orderly manner through the party's bodies", said the Chania MP to the newspaper

Newsroom August 24 07:05

Pavlos Polakis has effectively hinted at his candidacy for the leadership of SYRIZA in statements published in the Sunday edition of “Documento.” When asked directly by the newspaper whether he intends to submit a motion of no confidence against Stefanos Kasselakis during the party’s Central Committee meeting, leading to a leadership election in SYRIZA, he responded, “The necessities are undeniable for both SYRIZA and the people. And whatever needs to be done, will be done in an orderly manner through the party’s bodies.”

Polakis also reiterated his commitment to shaping a political strategy that could lead to the downfall of the Mitsotakis regime, emphasizing the need for a program similar to the one he proposed. He stated, “Whatever needs to be done, will be done.”

Polakis’ influence within SYRIZA’s Central Committee has grown recently, even among members who had previously strongly supported Stefanos Kasselakis. If a motion of no confidence against the SYRIZA president is filed, it is expected to receive support from members aligned with Alexis Tsipras, known as the “87.”

Polakis also touched on his ongoing dispute with Athina Linou, criticizing the party leadership for not responding to his allegations. He warned that if no disciplinary action is taken against Linou, he will take the matter to court and added that the relevant documents should be submitted to the Audit Court and the Financial Prosecutor.
