Weather: Storm in Attica, severe weather in Evia (videos)

Phenomena began to occur in the northern parts of the prefecture of Attica, which extended to the northern suburbs

Newsroom August 30 02:01

A second day of bad weather today and since noon showers and thunderstorms have made their appearance in Attica and Evia.

Shortly after 1 p.m., phenomena began to occur in the northern parts of Attica prefecture, which extended to the northern suburbs, and are expected to move further south.

In Evia, severe weather is being experienced in the town of Aliveri since early afternoon. Roads have been turned into a river by the intense storm that is currently “hitting” areas of central and southern Evia, which is at the center of the bad weather.

According to the data, the rains and thunderstorms will hit the mainland, Ionian, Northern Aegean and Crete. The phenomena in the mountainous mainland may be intense in places and accompanied by hailstorms. To this end, caution is recommended on coasts and beaches due to the possibility of “bourines”, especially in the Ionian Sea and Northern Aegean.

The updated EMY weather bulletin

The Emergency Weather Bulletin issued at noon on Thursday has been updated by EMY, according to the latest forecast data.

Cold and unstable air masses in the upper atmosphere will remain over our country until Saturday (31-08-24) affecting in places most of the mainland with heavy rain and thunderstorms, which will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and local hailstorms. Occasionally, the phenomena will be accompanied by very strong winds (bourines).

Locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast:
