Paralympic Games 2024: Silver Medal for the Remarkable Manthopoulou in the 100m – See Photos

The incredible 19-year-old Lida Manthopoulou made her Paralympic debut unforgettable by winning the silver medal in the 100m (T38) with a time of 12.49, once again breaking her personal best!

Newsroom August 31 10:12

Entering the final with the third-best time, Lida overcame a slow start, accelerating after the 60-meter mark, and finished with a strong push, clocking 12.49 (+0.8), setting a new personal record, and claiming silver.

She was narrowly beaten by Colombia’s Karen Tatiana Palomeque Moreno, who set a world record with 12.26. The bronze went to another Colombian, Darian Jimenez Sanchez, who finished in 12.53.

Lida, the daughter of the late actor Aias Manthopoulos, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about a year and a half ago. Initially, it was a difficult period that took her six months to come to terms with. “There was a lot of pain, and my daily life changed significantly. I hesitated at first, but then I returned to the track. It’s something I love, and I will continue,” she said, proving today that she is truly a fighter.
