Paralympic Games 2024: Triumphant Night with Gold for Konstantinidis and Bronze for Stefanidis in Shot Put Glory

Konstantinidis managed to break the European record twice in the final

It was a dream night for the Greek delegation at the Paralympic Games at the Stade de France. Athanasios Konstantinidis and Lazaros Stefanidis achieved an incredible 1-3 finish in the F32 shot put event. Konstantinidis won the gold medal, while Stefanidis claimed the bronze.

At the age of 54, Athanasios Konstantinidis became a Paralympic champion with a new European record in the F32 shot put final. Konstantinidis entered the Paris Games with a personal best of 11.60m and a season-best of 10.56m. In today’s final, he threw 11.17m, 11.57m, 10.94m, 11.92m, and 11.93m in his last attempt, breaking the European record twice!

Lazaros Stefanidis also delivered an outstanding performance, throwing 9.84m to secure the bronze medal, finishing behind Konstantinidis and independent (Russian) athlete Aleksei Tsupkin, who threw 11.39m.

The third Greek finalist, Dimitris Zisidis, threw 8.88m to finish 6th overall, delivering a remarkable performance as well.
