Police officers arrested two traffickers of illegal immigrants after a chase in the center of Athens on Sunday morning.

According to the an announcement, the arrests were made after DIAS officers spotted a car with many passengers moving on Acharnon Street.

It was found that there were 4 men and 3 women in the car, illegal immigrants from Nepal who had crossed into Greece from Bulgaria at dawn on Sunday morning, having paid between 500 and 1,000 euros each.

The police investigation also identified a house in the center of Athens where the ring was holding 11 other illegal immigrants from Nepal and Tibet (7 women and 4 men). The migrants told the police that they had illegally entered Greece to work in agricultural work 10 days ago after having paid 1,500 euros each. At the same time, they were also obliged to pay 10 euros a day to stay in the apartment.

Against the two traffickers (a 47-year-old Pakistani and a 45-year-old Greek woman), a case file was formed for facilitating the entry into Greek territory for profit, transporting foreigners inside the country, forgery, possession of a third person’s travel document, dangerous driving, disobedience and violation of the law on addictive substances. In addition, their co-accused has been identified and is wanted.
