Zelensky: Very constructive meeting with Trump, I presented the Victory Plan

Trump called the war a "complicated puzzle" and called for "a fair deal for the whole world"

Newsroom September 27 09:49

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski called the meeting he had earlier today in New York with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump “very constructive” as both agreed that the 2.5-year-long war must end.

“I had a very productive meeting with Donald Trump. I presented our Victory Plan to him and we discussed at length the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the war on our people. Many details were discussed,” Zelensky wrote in English in a post on the X-platform.

“We share the view that the war in Ukraine must stop. Putin cannot win. Ukrainians must prevail,” he added.

Trump also called the meeting “wonderful.”

Earlier, Trump pledged to “resolve” the war in Ukraine if he wins the November election. “This war should never have happened, but we will solve it,” the former president said, without explaining how.

Trump called the war “a complicated puzzle” and called for “a fair deal for the whole world.”

Before the meeting began, Trump said he had a “very good relationship” with Zelensky and also with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I hope we have better relations,” the Ukrainian president replied, visibly annoyed.

Trump has often denounced the huge sums Washington has spent to prop up Kiev after the Russian invasion in 2022. This week he even called Zelensky “the best trader on the planet” because “every time he comes to our country he leaves with $60 billion.”
