Egypt: Dog managed to climb to the top of the pyramid in Giza (video)

The dog was barking at birds

Newsroom October 16 07:16

A stunning discovery was made by Alex Lang while making Paraglide fly-by over the Giza‘s Great Pyramid at Egypt, as he saw a dog that had reached the top of the largest of Egypt’s 118 pyramids.

Tourists often take Paraglide tours of these monuments in Egypt, as climbing these pyramids is now forbidden.

To his surprise, Alex Lang noticed some movement at the top of the Pyramid and as he approached, he noticed that there was a dog at the top that…chasing birds. It was not immediately clear how the dog got there.

An X user shared the unusual video and wrote: “Dog spotted hanging on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. The man who filmed the incident from his parachute says the dog was barking at birds. The Great Pyramid of Giza has a towering height of 146.60m (1,000 feet) meaning the dog had to make a long hike to the top.”

The unexpected sight left many people confused on social media, as climbing the Great Pyramid is strictly forbidden. The dog’s climb, seemingly unassisted, caused curiosity and several memes online.

“This is the pyramid of now. He conquered it,” one wrote, and another joked: “It’s not a dog. That’s the Egyptian god Anubis. He is considered the guide of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of tombs. That’s why he’s above the pyramid.” Naturally many were impressed by how the dog managed to get there “These boulders are huge. It’s a crazy climb for a dog.”

The Great Pyramid of Cheops

The ancient necropolis of Giza includes: the Pyramid of Cheops, also known as “the Great Pyramid”, the slightly smaller Pyramid of Chephrenos, and the relatively modest-sized Pyramid of Mycerinus. The largest and most famous is the Pyramid of Cheops (or Hufu), while the other two are smaller and are located a few meters away from the Pyramid of Cheops. It is the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

The Pyramid of Cheops is 146.60 m high and has a perfect square base with a side of 230.35 m, and it is a surprise to modern researchers for the standards of the time of its construction.

It has a volume of 2,521,000 cubic meters, covers an area of 54,000 square meters and has an estimated weight of 6.5 million tons. It was included in the Seven Wonders of the World.

The monument thrills visitors to Egypt for its grandeur and engineering, and puzzles modern experts as to how their ancient colleagues were able to solve so many engineering and structural problems.

On the outside, the pyramid of Cheops is clad in slabs of granite. The interior was a labyrinth of corridors and small rooms, which prevented easy access to the main room which was made of black basalt and its dimensions being 5m high, 5.34m wide and 10.33m long.
