Super League 1 Greece: Aris leads, tight competition as PAOK, Olympiacos, AEK & Panathinaikos close in

A thrilling 10th match day in Super League 1 sees Aris secure the top spot, with PAOK, Olympiacos, and AEK in pursuit

Newsroom November 4 09:43

After weeks of rapid shifts in the Super League 1 standings, Aris has broken the trend by maintaining its lead at the top. Following a strong 3-1 victory over Levadiakos, Aris stands alone as league leader after the 10th matchday of an unpredictable Super League 1 season.

Aris Maintains Top Spot with Levadiakos Victory (3-1)

Aris’ home performance against Levadiakos solidified their sixth win out of ten matches, continuing their reign at the top of the table. Suleimanov opened the scoring early in the 9th minute, though Levadiakos’ Zini equalized in the 30th minute. Just three minutes later, Montzou restored Aris’ lead with a brilliant free-kick, and in the second half, Aris extended their advantage to 3-1 through a penalty converted by Moron in the 62nd minute.

PAOK Secures Comeback Victory over Lamia (2-1)

At Lamia, PAOK experienced an intense match, dominating possession but conceding early after a rare defensive slip. Furtado put Lamia ahead after intercepting Kamara’s pass, but PAOK rebounded with Andrija Zivkovic’s stunning equalizer in the 59th minute. The pressure paid off when Tissoudali scored the decisive goal in the 74th minute, sealing the comeback for PAOK, who now trail Aris by just one point.

AEK Clinches Crucial Win at Atromitos (1-0)

A vital goal by Levi Garcia in first-half stoppage time gave AEK a much-needed win against Atromitos in Peristeri. With this win, AEK has returned to winning form after three matches without a victory. The tight match saw AEK hit the post twice and ultimately secure the win despite Atromitos’ late chances.

Panathinaikos Defeats Volos, Rui Vitoria’s Debut Win (1-0)

Rui Vitoria’s first match as Panathinaikos manager ended in a 1-0 victory against Volos, with Djurisic’s early goal in the 16th minute proving enough. Despite multiple chances to extend the lead, Panathinaikos held on for the three points, even after missing a late penalty.

Olympiacos Edges Out Panserraikos in Narrow Victory (2-1)

Olympiacos returned to winning ways at home against Panserraikos, though the 2-1 scoreline was closer than expected. Velde’s opening goal in the 12th minute put Olympiacos ahead, but Panserraikos equalized in the second half, creating a tense atmosphere at Karaiskakis Stadium. However, El Kaabi’s goal soon after restored the lead, sealing the win.

Standings After Matchday 10

  1. Aris – 21 points
  2. PAOK – 20 points
  3. AEK – 18 points
  4. Olympiacos – 18 points
  5. Panathinaikos – 16 points

The top spots remain tightly contested, with Aris leading PAOK by one point and both AEK and Olympiacos close behind. Panathinaikos, currently in fifth, stays within striking distance of the lead.
