The Secondary Education Teachers’ Federation (OLME) and the Greek Primary Teachers’ Federation (DOE) have announced daily work stoppages in schools for the entire month of November

The work stoppages are one hour in primary education and three hours in secondary education

Newsroom November 5 11:59

The OLME has planned three-hour work stoppages for secondary education each day, while the DOE has announced daily one-hour stoppages in primary education until the end of the month. Despite these actions, schools will remain open and operate as usual in November.

OLME stated it will carry out three-hour work stoppages each day for either the first or second shift, from Monday, November 4, to Friday, November 29, 2024. This action aims to oppose the implementation of Law 4823/21 and the accompanying regulation from January 27, 2023, which involves classroom evaluations.

DOE Announcement

The DOE’s announcement mirrors OLME’s stance against evaluations, instituting daily one-hour stoppages for the duration of the school schedule from November 1 to November 29, 2024. DOE encourages local branches to approve additional hours if deemed necessary to ensure full support for educators.
