An 81-year-old woman from Heraklion has fallen victim to a telephone scamCrete, who handed the perpetrators a bag containing 15,000 euros.

The fraudsters called the woman and told her that her husband had fallen and needed urgent surgery.

Coincidentally, her husband along with their daughter had gone to the hospital for some examination and the woman believed that her husband had indeed been hurt and had to be rushed to surgery, according to cretapost.gr.

The elderly woman handed the perpetrators a bag with 15,000 euros. Later, she discovered that she had been deceived and informed the police.

Officers scanned security cameras around the home to locate the perpetrator, however he had disappeared.
