Prosecution considers withdrawing case file on 14-year-old son of police officer’s fall from balcony

The possibility to take the case file out of the file and re-investigate the case is being examined after the revelations that have seen the light of day recently

Newsroom December 4 06:45

The Athens Prosecutor’s Office is considering the possibility of withdrawing from the file the case file that was formed for the fall of the 14-year-old son of the detained parliament policeman from the balcony in 2020.

The possibility of removing the case file from the file and re-investigating the case is being considered after the revelations that have seen the light of day recently.

According to them, the child’s fall from the balcony was not due to an accident but the minor boy wanted to end his life in this way, not being able to bear the abuse he was experiencing. Now, under the weight of these revelations, the head of the Athens Prosecutor’s Office Aristides Koreas ordered the juvenile prosecutor’s office to examine whether there are reasons to withdraw the case from the file.

For the incident had been dealt with in 2020 by the prosecution of minors but from the evidence that emerged then in the investigation it was judged that the first of the child was an accident and therefore the case file was archived. Now, if it is finally decided that the case file should be withdrawn from the file, an investigation into the incident will be reopened.

It will be recalled that the 45-year-old police officer, who is still being treated at the Military Hospital, has been temporarily detained after pleading with the investigating officer. He faces a slew of felony charges involving the physical and sexual abuse of his children and his wife, who is also a police officer.

During his plea, the defendant denied the multitude of charges he faces, claiming that he never sexually abused his children and that it was all a figment of his wife’s imagination. He even asked for a psychiatric expert examination of the mother of his children and complainant.
