Manhattan: Photos of suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murder – The moment of execution

Photos of the elusive gunman who waited in a cafe for Brian Thompson to arrive at the hotel outside the hotel where he was murdered

Newsroom December 5 07:19

Photos of the man wanted in the cold-blooded killing of the CEO of insurance company UnitedHealthcare in Manhattan have been released by New York City police.

The photos were taken from a security camera in a cafe where the man wanted was allegedly waiting until Brian Thompson appeared at the Hilton Hotel for an investment conference. This evidence reinforces the premeditated murder scenario on which police investigating the execution are focusing their attention.

The video, moreover, from the moment of the murder, shows a man with a good knowledge of guns as he does not panic when his gun appears to jam as he continues to shoot Thompson until he falls to the ground.

After the execution, the man is recorded on an electric scooter on 6th Avenue before getting lost in Central Park.

According to what his wife, Paulette, told NBC, Thompson had been receiving threats lately. “There have been some threats. I don’t know the details. I just know there were certain people who had threatened him,” Mrs. Thompson said, adding that police officers told her it was an “organized attack.”

The New York City Police earlier released two images showing the gunman opening fire and then fleeing on a bicycle. Witnesses say the gunman was waiting outside the hotel before the attack and appeared to know which door Thompson would use to exit before shooting him at point-blank range.

Video from the scene shows NYPD officers performing CPR on the father of two children before he was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. However, his death was announced shortly afterwards.

Thompson had been named CEO of UnitedHealthcare in 2021, with an annual salary of about $10 million. He was due to speak at an investor meeting at the Hilton Hotel a few hours after the assassination, where he was to present the company’s highly profitable financial projections for 2025, with expected revenues of more than $450 billion.

The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a beige jacket, a black face mask, black and white sneakers and a grey backpack. Witnesses said the suspect fled on a bicycle and is believed to have headed toward Central Park.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for any information that can help the investigation.
