“No Gasoline without a helmet” – Campaign by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with gas station owners

“No Gasoline Without a Helmet” – A campaign to protect human lives is being launched by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Development and the Federation of Gas Station Owners of Greece.

The tragic incident in Crete, which claimed the life of 17-year-old Giannis Christoulakis, alongside the public announcement by a gas station owner who stated he would no longer serve motorcyclists without helmets, prompted the Health Minister to act.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis met today, Friday, with the president of the Federation of Gas Station Owners of Greece, Michalis Kiousis, Vice President Maria Zaga, and Secretary Taxiarchis Vlachos to request their support for the campaign titled “No Gasoline Without a Helmet,” aimed at protecting human lives.

The campaign will involve the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Development, and the Federation of Gas Station Owners of Greece.

It is worth recalling the tragic death of 17-year-old Giannis Christoulakis in a traffic collision after battling for his life for 16 long days in the ICU of Chania Hospital.

Less alcohol and lower speeds with the new Highway Code and strict fines

The 17-year-old was the victim of a serious traffic accident on Heroes of Polytechnic Street in Kissamos on November 23.

During his fall, he suffered severe head injuries and was initially transferred to the Kissamos Health Center for first aid, then to Chania Hospital, where he remained intubated, fighting hard to stay alive.

Shortly after the young man’s death was announced, a gas station in Kissamos declared that it would cease supplying fuel to any motorcycle, whether small or large engine capacity, if the driver or passenger was not wearing a safety helmet. At the same time, it encouraged all other gas stations to adopt the same policy.
