Thracomacedones shooting: Man with criminal past killed, ‘person of interest’ identified alongside injured victim

They were ambushed and shot in cold blood - Where the investigations of the ELAS for the mafia hit in Thracomakedones - The man who is fighting for his life, recently came to Greece from Dubai

Newsroom December 15 07:07

Another addition to the list of mafia-style executions in our country was made today with the deadly ambush of two men outside a cafe in Thracomacedones, resulting in one of them, 45, being killed on the spot and the second seriously injured.

From the way the attackers struck, it appears they had planned the attack and were waiting for the right moment. Before the crime, they stole a car from Athens, drove to the area, approached the victims, and began shooting. The attack took place outside a store located at the intersection of Aristotelous and Komotini streets, with the attackers firing in cold blood at the victims and then going up in smoke.

Police sources said the 45-year-old man who died was a Greek, Albanian-born bar owner in Peristeri. Police believe it is a case of settling scores, given the 45-year-old’s past, who is said to be related to three nightlife figures who have been murdered in the war raging between rival groups of the Greek Mafia. In addition, the victim was indicted in 2009 for criminal organization, extortion, and other charges, and after that, he was reportedly never dealt with by the authorities again.

A “person of interest”, however, was also the man who was seriously injured in the head and abdomen and is fighting for his life. The injured man had recently arrived in the country from Dubai, which investigators believe played a role in the deadly ambush. That is, they believe that perhaps his arrival in our country was for a specific reason and mobilized a rival group that wanted to take him out.

It should be noted that, according to reports, along with the 45-year-old man who died and the man who was wounded, there was another man who was not hit by the gunfire.

The Hellenic Police investigation into the mafia-style execution is in full swing, with officers combing through the victims’ personal and professional lives to track down the perpetrators.
