A massive party with loud music, dancing, souvlaki, and plenty of wine has been set up once again this New Year’s Eve on Vasileos Irakleiou Street and many other central streets of Thessaloniki.

With the weather playing along as an ally, thousands of Thessalonians and visitors to the city have taken to the main streets. After their last-minute shopping spree, they’ve turned the area into an outdoor celebration.

A typical scene can be found on Vasileos Irakleiou Street, which has been closed to traffic. Children and adults are dancing and celebrating both on the sidewalks and in the middle of the street, where the local eateries have set up their grills.
