The total cost of the support for January amounts to €20.9 million

Newsroom January 7 05:23

The electricity subsidy for January has been set at 1.5 cents per kilowatt-hour, as announced today (January 7) by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. As a result, the final consumer price is expected to be approximately 14 cents per kilowatt-hour.

  • For monthly consumption up to 500 kWh, the subsidy amounts to €15/MWh or 1.5 cents/kWh. This category encompasses 90% of households in Greece.

It is noted that the subsidies apply to consumers who are on variable electricity tariffs.

  • For households enrolled in the Social Residential Tariff (SRT), the subsidy is set at €35/MWh or 3.5 cents/kWh for the entirety of their consumption.

The total cost of the subsidy program for January is €20.9 million.

The Ministry of Environment and Energy highlights that the average price of “green” tariffs for the three largest providers in the Low Voltage market (accounting for over 80% of household consumption) amounts to €140.3/MWh or 14.03 cents/kWh, including the January subsidy. This represents a slight decrease compared to the previous month’s levels.
