The emergency weather deterioration bulletin has been updated, with strong rain and storms, snow even at low altitudes, and gale-force winds expected to continue until Tuesday (14-01-25). From Wednesday (15-01-25), the phenomena will gradually weaken, although frost, especially in northern Greece, will persist for the next three days.

DETAILED FORECAST

Monday

a) RAIN AND STORMS
Strong rain and storms are expected in the Ionian Sea (mainly the southern parts), the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, the Peloponnese, Central Greece, Thessaly (particularly in eastern areas), the Sporades, and Evia.

b) SNOW
In Epirus, Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaly, heavy snowfall is expected locally in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, with snow also likely to fall in lower-altitude regions.

In Central Greece and the Peloponnese, heavy snowfall is expected in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas and the northern parts of Central Greece (Fthiotida) and in lower-altitude areas.

c) WINDS
In the northern Aegean, gale-force northeasterly winds of 8 to 9 Beaufort will blow. In the Ionian Sea, gale-force easterly and southeasterly winds of 7 to 8 Beaufort are expected.

Tuesday

a) RAIN AND STORMS
Strong rain and storms are expected in the Ionian Sea (mainly the southern parts), the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, the Peloponnese (mainly the western and southern regions), Central Greece, Thessaly (particularly in eastern areas), the Sporades, Evia, and temporarily in the Cyclades.

In Thessaly, Central Greece, and the Peloponnese, heavy snowfall is expected in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas and in lower-altitude regions of Thessaly and Central Greece (Fthiotida, Boeotia).

c) WINDS
In the Aegean, gale-force northeasterly winds of 8 Beaufort and, in the north, up to 9 Beaufort will prevail. In the Ionian Sea, gale-force easterly winds of 7 to 8 Beaufort are forecast. Gradual weakening is expected from the afternoon hours onward.
