A 35-year-old serial burglar was arrested in Koropi

The 35-year-old had an outstanding arrest warrant as a member of a gang that committed thefts and robberies in stores across southeastern Attica

Newsroom January 22 08:30

On Monday afternoon in Koropi, officers from the Immediate Action Police (DIAS Unit) arrested a 35-year-old Greek man who had an outstanding arrest warrant for participating in a gang responsible for committing aggravated burglaries and thefts.

Specifically, following a call to the Immediate Action Center about a vehicle burglary, officers, during targeted searches, located the 35-year-old and a 46-year-old behaving suspiciously in a nearby area. They conducted a check on the two individuals and subsequently took them to the Crime Investigation and Resolution Department of Koropi.

There, police discovered that the 35-year-old was wanted under an arrest warrant as a member of a gang that had committed aggravated burglaries and robberies at stores in southeastern Attica.

It was revealed that the 35-year-old, along with two accomplices—one of whom had been arrested earlier in December of last year—had carried out burglaries and thefts from stores in areas of southeastern Attica.

Regarding their method of operation, the gang members primarily acted during nighttime and early morning hours. Using a motorcycle, they would break the glass entrance panels of stores with tools and other objects, gaining access to the interior and stealing cash and other items.

It is noted that all the burglaries and thefts were committed within the span of a single week.

The arrest warrant was issued based on a case file prepared by the Crime Investigation and Resolution Department of Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni, which included the resolution of 14 cases of burglaries and thefts.

Additionally, the 46-year-old was also arrested, and a case file was prepared against him by the Koropi Crime Investigation and Resolution Department for theft and forgery. His vehicle had a fake license plate, and he was found in possession of a license plate stolen from another vehicle.

The arrested individuals were brought before the competent Prosecutorial Authority.
