Zelensky concerned by the suspension of US humanitarian aid to foreign countries

He called for a national impact assessment of the White House decision

Newsroom January 29 10:30

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said tonight that he has requested a detailed report on ways to address the impact of the Trump administration’s decision to “freeze” U.S. aid to foreign countries.

Zelensky said Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olexiy Kuleba and other officials should assess the national-level impact of the White House decision, which aims to review whether US aid to foreign countries is consistent with the new US administration’s foreign policy.

“These are humanitarian programs … most of which are not run by the Ukrainian government but are distributed directly to our communities,” Zelensky said in a video message released tonight. “We will determine which ones are vital and require immediate solutions,” he added.

“Undoubtedly, we will support priority programs, such as those related to Ukraine’s children and our veterans, as well as those related to the protection of our infrastructure,” Zelensky assured.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has relied heavily on foreign humanitarian aid, with the U.S. offering billions of dollars in financial assistance.
