Evangelia Platanioti named world’s best artistic swimmer for 2024

A monumental achievement for Greek artistic swimming, Evangelia Platanioti has been crowned the world’s top artistic swimmer for 2024, according to the voting results of World Aquatics (formerly FINA)

The Greek champion solidified her dominance in the sport by winning gold in the technical solo and silver in the free routine at the Doha World Championships. These outstanding performances secured her place at the top of the global rankings and earned her the prestigious title of the best artistic swimmer of the year.

Platanioti triumphed over strong competitors, including Jacqueline Simoneau from Canada, Huiyan Su from China, Clara Bleyer from Germany, and Kyra Hoeverts from Aruba.

The winner was determined through a combination of public voting on World Aquatics’ official Instagram account and votes from the organization’s expert panel.
