Hearse trapped in a village in Agrafa due to GPS – The family of the deceased was waiting for the funeral

The route he followed was wrong and as a result he got stuck in the mud on a mountain road

Newsroom March 6 08:00

An unbelievable incident happened with a decator that got “stuck” on a mountain road in Agrafa because of GPS.

According to lamiareport.gr, the hearse from a Piraeus funeral parlor office took the wrong road because of GPS and tried to get to Arta where it would have delivered the body of a woman, via Prasia in western Agrafa.

The few residents of the mountainous village saw the hearse moving in the early hours of the morning from Fousiana and Vasilesi towards Karambesini. This made them wonder who, from their area, had died, and they started calling the surrounding villages.

But the hearse did not stop at a settlement and continued on its way to the aqueduct of Vassilesi, a place that cannot be easily reached by car.

The hearse that got stuck in the mud

The incident was reported via a post on the village’s community Facebook page. “Two residents of Vasilesi climbed up to the sycamore trees at the aqueduct to see what was going on…and couldn’t believe their eyes,” the post reads.

The hearse was stuck in the mud and could not be moved, all while the family of the deceased was waiting for the body to be laid to rest.

As the people of the funeral home said, the GPS mistakenly sent them to the roads of the mountain swamp and the Aspropotamos, so without realizing it, they found themselves in Vasilesi.

With the help of a villager who had a farm vehicle, the hearse was freed from the mud and was driven on the right road to the plain of Arta.
