Olympiacos – Erythros Asteras showdown at SEF

Olympiacos is chasing its 7th consecutive victory in the Euroleague - Tip-off at 20:00 - Broadcast on Novasports 4

Newsroom March 20 07:48

A few days after their victory over Panathinaikos, Olympiacos returns to Euroleague action aiming for their 7th consecutive win in the competition.

Olympiacos, currently at the top of the standings, hosts Red Star (7th) at 20:00 at the SEF in a clash of red and white teams.

Olympiacos will be without Goss, Evans, Walkup, Wright, while Red Star will miss Bolomboy, Daum, Mitrovic, and Petrusev.

Olympiacos coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, stated: “The players we have are of a high level and do not need extra motivation. This is a game in the final stretch of the regular season, and it’s important for us, as it is for every team. We’ll play in a great atmosphere and want to win alongside our fans.”

From Red Star’s side, Luca Vildoza said: “It will be a tough game. Red Star needs the win. They come without a center, which is difficult for them, but they will play for the win. In the first round, we lost at their home, and we want to show our best side. It will be a good game, as we’re playing against one of the top eight teams in the EuroLeague.”

The Greek coach of Red Star, Ioannis Sfairopoulos, noted: “We face Olympiacos, which is a very good team, and we know its capabilities very well. They are first in the standings, have consistency throughout the season, they have experience, and they are one of the favorites for the Final Four. Our task is not easy, as we won’t have a center. We’ll try to play as well as we can with the players we have. It won’t be easy, but I believe it’s a challenge for us and our character. I expect us to show character, give our best, and cover the absences.”

Finally, Rokas Giedraitis commented: “Big game, great team, and tough opponent in Olympiacos. We’re expecting a good game, especially in defense on our side. We have problems, as some players can’t play. We’ll fight and try to win, to get some points. We lost some games that we should have won. I’m ready to play at center.”
