Weather: Southern winds, dust, and temperatures around 20°C – Where muddy rain Is expected

Southern winds, dust, and localized rainfall mainly in western and northern areas will dominate the weather conditions over the next few days, according to ERT meteorologist Panagiotis Giannopoulos, with temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Alpha meteorologist Giorgos Tatrafylias noted that “rain from Sunday to Wednesday will turn into muddy rain, affecting mainly western and northern Greece primarily, and to a lesser extent the eastern mainland and the central-northern Aegean. On our national holiday, muddy rain is expected in Thessaloniki and muddy drizzle in Athens.”

Thin clouds gradually thickening, with occasional local rainfall expected from the morning, primarily in northeastern, northern, and northwestern regions. Atmospheric dust concentrations will gradually increase in the Ionian and mainland Greece, excluding Thrace, eastern Macedonia, and Eastern Sterea. Visibility will be locally limited until morning.

  • Macedonia: 2 to 16°C
  • Thrace: 1 to 19°C
  • Thessaly: 5 to 20°C
  • Epirus and Sterea: 5 to 22°C
  • Peloponnese: 1 to 24°C
  • Ionian Islands: 11 to 18°C
  • North and Eastern Aegean Islands: 5 to 19°C
  • Cyclades and Dodecanese: 5 to 18°C
  • Crete: 5 to 25°C

Winds:

  • Aegean Sea: Southerly, 3 to 4 Beaufort
  • Ionian Sea: Southeast, 5 to 7 Beaufort

Attica will experience thin clouds, occasionally thickening. Southerly winds will blow at 2 to 4 Beaufort, with locally limited visibility until morning. Temperatures in central Athens will range from 10 to 18°C.

In Thessaloniki, cloudy conditions with the possibility of temporary localized rainfall from the morning. Winds will blow from eastern to southeastern directions up to 3 Beaufort, with limited visibility locally until morning. Temperatures in central Thessaloniki will range from 7 to 17°C.

Weather on Monday (March 24)

Cloudy intervals across the country, with local rain in western, central, and northern regions. African dust transportation will be favored in western areas. Southerly winds will blow at 4 to 6 Beaufort, reaching locally 7 in the Aegean and up to 8 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea. Temperatures will further rise, reaching 19 to 20°C in most regions.

Weather on Tuesday, March 25

Temporary cloudy intervals nationwide. Local rain is expected in the Ionian, western, central, and northern mainland regions, as well as Evia and the northern Aegean, including isolated thunderstorms mainly in marine and coastal areas. African dust transportation is expected mainly in the south. Southerly winds will blow at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally 6 in seas, and up to 7-8 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea during morning hours. Temperatures will temporarily drop in the northwest.

Temperatures will drop mainly in western areas.
