During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the strategic Greece-Israel relationship and discussed further deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of defense.

At the beginning of their meeting, Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Welcome, Prime Minister, my dear friend Kyriakos. Here, two blue and white meet. We are two ancient peoples. Our free civilizations began in Athens and Jerusalem. We share common values and today share a common interest, as well as common challenges. I believe many opportunities lie before us. I look forward to our discussion.

“You are changing Greece’s economy. We also went through a similar process. Our ties are constantly strengthening. I know many Israelis who visit Greece and invest in Greece, which is a vote of confidence. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss security challenges, economic opportunities, and ways in which we can increase the chances for lasting peace in our region, something I know you desire.
