Fitch upgrades the outlook of the Greek economy to positive – Unchanged at “BBB-“

Vote of confidence from the American house - With the improvement in the outlook of the economy, Fitch "sends" a clear signal towards a new rating upgrade

Newsroom May 17 09:08

Positive news for the Greek economy was provided by Fitch Ratings, which kept its rating stable at “BBB-“but upgraded its outlook from stable to positive.

In December 2023, the US agency gave Greece an investment grade. Since then, the US agency has not upgraded the rating or the outlook for Greece’s credit rating.

However, now, with the upgrade of the outlook to positive, it “sends” a clear signal of an improvement in the credit rating of the Greek economy in the 12 to 24-month horizon.

Recall that Athens is coming off three consecutive upgrades within 2025, from Moody’s and DBRS in March and Standard and Poor’s in April.

In two weeks, on May 30, it is the turn of German Scope Ratings, which rates Greece as BBB with a stable outlook.

The other ratings of the Greek economy in the second half of the year are as follows:

September 5 – DBRS (BBB / stable outlook)

September 19 – Moody’s (Baa3 / stable outlook)

17 October – Standard and Poor’s (BBB / stable outlook)

November 7 – Scope Ratings (BBB / stable outlook)
