Kalavryta: The robbers of the ELTA shot in the air and fled, pointing their Kalashnikovs at the people

See the video published by protothema.gr - They left with 1,000 euros in their pocket, there were still 40,000 euros but they did not find them

Newsroom May 27 02:49

The investigation into the perpetrators of the armed robbery at a branch of the Post Office in Dafni Kalavryta continues.

Two men, having their faces covered with masks and holding weapons -probably a Kalashnikov- broke into the ELTA branch and, threatening the employee managed to take from the safe the sum of 1,000 euros.

After “invading” the premises, they found the safe open, and after they immobilized the woman at gunpoint, they proceeded to the spot and snatched the amount of 1,000 euros that was inside. There were another 40,000 euros in a bag that was to be put in the safe, but they never found it.

Video of the robbers leaving

After they fled, residents attempted to chase them, and then the offenders fired three shots in the air. In the video below, the gunshots of the perpetrators can be heard, and then they can be seen aiming at people to prevent them from following them.

From the evidence gathered so far by officers handling the case, it is believed that the robbers had parked a vehicle they were using for their getaway elsewhere. The possibility that an accomplice was waiting for them is being considered, and video footage is being sought.

At the same time, police forces are “sweeping” the area to locate and arrest them, while neighbouring police directorates were immediately informed.
