Greece leaves its mark on the global AI map with Sophea.AI

KIEFER showcased two major innovations at GTC Paris@VivaTech 2025—the largest European exhibition for startups and technology

Newsroom June 11 07:00

KIEFER, a leading Greek company in the construction and energy sectors and one of the first AI factories in Greece, presented two cutting-edge innovations: Sophea.AI, the first large language model (LLM) in the Greek language, and Hyperion-X, a modular artificial intelligence platform for energy trading and optimization.

Sophea.AI, developed on NVIDIA DGX B200 systems—the first such implementation in Greece—as well as NVIDIA DGX Cloud, brings a new level of intelligence to infrastructure management. It supports various specialized applications, such as regulatory document analysis, AI-powered accounting services, and voice-based customer support. It will soon expand to tourism assistance via AI. Designed for semantic accuracy and seamless adaptability to Greek data, Sophea.AI was trained entirely with 100% green energy, underscoring KIEFER’s commitment to sustainability and responsible AI development.

Hyperion-X is an advanced AI platform for renewable energy trading, designed to automate and optimize every aspect of energy market operations. It functions as a fully digital energy trading department: forecasting production, estimating electricity prices across market segments, and executing real-time trading strategies to maximize profits and minimize risk. The platform ensures full regulatory compliance, securely connects with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), and manages revenue distribution through transparent, auditable processes. It targets utility companies and energy service providers, offering a scalable foundation for the future of data- and automation-driven energy markets.

“The name Sophea comes from the ancient Greek word Sophia (wisdom), symbolizing our strategic intent: to elevate Greece as a Sovereign Nation in Artificial Intelligence, promoting technological independence and sustainability,” said Christos Petrocheilos, CEO of KIEFER.

“Our participation in GTC Paris is a milestone for both KIEFER and Greece,” added Mr. Petrocheilos. “Sophea.AI is the first Greek-developed LLM presented internationally, utilizing NVIDIA’s cutting-edge technology and aligned with our core values: open innovation, energy transition, and national sovereignty in AI.”

“Artificial intelligence is the most powerful technological force of our time,” stated Calista Redmond, Vice President of Global AI Initiatives at NVIDIA. “Together with partners like KIEFER, we see nations leveraging NVIDIA’s platform for sustainability, energy resilience, and AI sovereignty—while also enhancing public services for citizens.”
