Iran Suspends Cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency

According to a decision by Iran’s council, IAEA staff will only be allowed to visit nuclear facilities with the consent of the Supreme National Security Council

Iran has approved a bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as announced by Hadi Tahan Nazif, official spokesperson of the supervisory body, in a post on X.

“The plan, which obliges the government to suspend cooperation with the IAEA, was not deemed inconsistent with Islamic law and the constitution after review by the members of the Guardian Council,” he wrote.

Iran’s parliament explained that Tehran is suspending cooperation with the agency until the safety of its nuclear facilities and nuclear scientists is guaranteed.

The document also states that IAEA officials will only be able to visit the Islamic Republic to conduct inspections with the prior approval of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
