Mitsotakis met with the CEO of RWE AG for investments in Macedonia

The German company has launched the development of nine photovoltaic units in Western Macedonia and recently decided to invest in the construction of two more large solar energy projects in Central Macedonia

Newsroom July 3 08:45

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met this afternoon with RWE AG CEO Dr. Markus Krebber at the Maximos Mansion.

The meeting focused on the progress of RWE’s investments in Greece for the development of nine photovoltaic plants in Western Macedonia, as well as the decision of the German company to invest in the construction of two more large solar energy projects in Central Macedonia.

It was also stressed that, thanks to the improved regulatory and licensing framework that has come into force in recent years, the pace of investment implementation is particularly fast, while there was an exchange of views on additional investment opportunities in our country.

Finally, about the needs that exist at European level, the importance of increasing the interconnections between EU member states was highlighted, a direction in which Greece is already moving, by launching the tripling of the potential of the connection with Italy, while issues that arise for consumers due to the chronic fragmentation of the European energy market were also discussed.
