Akis Skertsos: “Something is changing – Let’s improve our national health system together”

"Only what is evaluated and measured can be improved", says the Minister of State

Newsroom July 14 12:44

In a recent Facebook post, State Minister Akis Skertsos announced the launch of a nationwide effort to evaluate hospital services through direct patient feedback. As part of the initiative, patients discharged from NHS hospitals will receive a text message inviting them to complete a short questionnaire within seven days.

Skertsos also shared an image of one such SMS, along with sample tabs from the questionnaire patients are asked to fill out.

“And something is changing here,” he wrote. “Only what is evaluated and measured can be improved. Let’s use this unique opportunity to make the national health system better.”

The survey aims to collect anonymised feedback from patients about their hospital experience. The results will be used to identify areas in need of improvement and to guide targeted interventions. At the end of each year, a comprehensive report will be published, presenting each hospital’s anonymised performance score alongside proposed recommendations.

“The NHS is you. The NHS is all of us,” Skertsos emphasized, urging citizens to participate in this unprecedented step toward transparency and accountability in the public health sector.
