Traffic at the port of Piraeus is up this morning, as thousands of travellers depart for the islands to mark the exit of August 15.
Occupancy rates are close to 100% in many cases, and ferry companies have stepped up their schedules to meet demand.
Today, 27 ferry departures are scheduled from the port of Piraeus, while 35 conventional and 18 fast ferry services will be operated to the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf. There are 11 vessels departing from Rafina and Lavrio.
Yesterday alone, Wednesday 13 August, 24,130 passengers travelled from Piraeus on 25 routes, while 7,783 passengers travelled to the Argosaronic Sea on 36 routes. From Rafina, 10 sailings were recorded with 6,806 passengers, and from Lavrio, 8 sailings with 2,225 passengers.
The Flag Guard is on heightened alert, facilitating the smooth flow of travelers, while appealing to passengers to comply with the instructions of the authorities for their better service.
