Robert Kennedy Jr. and Pete Hegseth had a “showdown” over who could do 100 pull-ups and 50 push-ups in 5 minutes

The “Pete and Bobby challenge” took place as part of the Trump administration’s campaign to get Americans to lose weight and exercise

Newsroom August 19 11:55

U.S. Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. visited the Pentagon to challenge his colleague, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, to a contest for the most pull-ups and push-ups.

The “Pete and Bobby challenge” was part of the Trump administration’s initiative to encourage Americans to get fit and shed weight.

The two secretaries’ goal was to complete 50 pull-ups and 100 push-ups in under five minutes, while surrounded by Navy and Marine Corps servicemen.

It should be noted that the U.S. Health Secretary has launched the movement “Make America Healthy Again,” which promotes eating healthy foods instead of processed meals.

For his part, Hegseth wants the U.S. military to be the fittest and best equipped to defend the country.

Although neither of them met the challenge goal, the winner of the showdown was Hegseth, who finished the exercises in just over 5 minutes.

“We came close. I finished at about 5:25. You were right behind me,” the Defense Secretary told the 71-year-old Kennedy Jr.

“It was President Trump who inspired us to do this. This is the beginning of our tour, challenging Americans to get back in shape, eat better, and also get outside and exercise,” said the U.S. Health Secretary.

Finally, the two secretaries challenged another member of Trump’s Cabinet, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, to join the competition. “Secretary Duffy, we invite you to take part in the Pete and Bobby challenge. Can you do it in under five minutes? 50 pull-ups, 100 push-ups. What do you say?” Hegseth asked in the video, as the two men laughed.
