UPDATE: End of the match, 90-86, triumph for the Greek National Team and first place in the group

The Greek national basketball team concludes its participation in the first phase of EuroBasket by facing Spain in Group C, which is hosted at the “Spyros Kyprianou” arena in Limassol.

With a win, the Greek team secures first place in the group, and after Bosnia’s victory over Georgia, it can now only finish either 1st or 4th.

The Greek team’s placement will also determine its opponent in the knockout game for the Round of 16, which will take place on Sunday in Riga, Latvia, where the final phase of EuroBasket will be hosted.

Spain, which can finish anywhere between second and fifth, also needs the win, since a loss to Greece would eliminate them from the tournament altogether, given Bosnia’s earlier victory over Georgia.

If Greece wins, it will face Israel in the Round of 16, while in case of a loss, it will face France.

The National Team desperately wants the win—first, to claim 1st place in the group and play Israel in the Round of 16, and second, to finally break the curse of so many years against Spain.

Earlier, Luka Dončić, with 37 points, sent Israel against Greece in the Round of 16 of the tournament.

Teams already qualified for the knockouts:

Group A: Turkey, Serbia, Latvia, Portugal
Group B: Germany, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden
Group C: Italy, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Greece
Group D: France, Slovenia, Israel, Poland

The only unanswered question is: Spain or Georgia?

If the Greek National Team wins, Georgia will qualify, while in the opposite case Spain will advance.

If Spain loses and is eliminated, it will be the first time they miss the Round of 16 since 1977—33 tournaments ago.
