A fire broke out shortly after 5 p.m. in the outdoor yard of a pallet factory in Menidi. Thirty firefighters with 12 fire engines and one helicopter are operating at the scene.

Due to the thick black smoke, a 112 emergency alert was sent to residents in the area, instructing them to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed.

A short while ago, traffic was suspended on Tatoiou Street, from its junction with Kymis Street to Dekeleias Street. Authorities are urging drivers to follow instructions to avoid delays and dangerous situations.
