Milder weather returns — Sunshine, light winds, and slightly higher temperatures

In the eastern continents and in the Aegean the most important rainfall on Wednesday - What Kolydas says about the upcoming cold invasion

Newsroom October 9 08:24

The weather is expected to improve today, with showers gradually diminishing in the eastern Aegean and weakening, while temperatures rise slightly. Most parts of the country will enjoy sunshine, though the mercury will remain low during the evening and early morning hours.

According to meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas, “The weather is showing a milder and more stable picture for the next few days. Until next Monday, most areas of the country will enjoy improved conditions, with winds not exceeding 5–6 Beaufort. Only on Saturday will there be a temporary strengthening to 6–7 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will rise slightly, remaining just below the seasonal average — a familiar face of autumn.”

Kolydas also dismissed reports of an imminent “cold invasion” from the northern Balkans, calling them “premature and misleading.” While a temperature drop is indeed expected there from Tuesday, he noted, “It is not yet clear whether it will affect us. Autumn continues calmly and steadily — just as it should.”

Recent Rainfall Concentrated in the East and the Aegean

The most significant rainfall on Wednesday was recorded in the eastern mainland and across the Aegean islands. According to Meteo.gr / National Observatory of Athens, cumulative precipitation data up to 16:00 showed the highest rainfall in Xanemos, Skiathos, reaching 31.8 mm.
