A new “Adults-Only” ChatGPT is coming – It will be able to handle erotic topics & fantasies

ChatGPT was originally programmed to avoid anything “bold,” with the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, admitting that this policy “took the magic” out of the experience

A more daring, “adult” era is dawning for OpenAI. Sam Altman, head of ChatGPT, announced that in December a less-censored version of the chatbot will be released, exclusively for verified adult users.

The new version will be able to handle erotic topics and fantasies, marking a shift that brings the company to the edge between innovation and controversy.

“We will treat adults as adults,” Altman said, suggesting that ChatGPT will gain more expressive freedom, including sensual content.

Although OpenAI has not disclosed exactly what will be considered “permissible,” the change represents a major policy reversal.

Until now, ChatGPT was programmed to avoid anything “bold,” protecting users from sensitive topics. But Altman admits that this policy “removed the magic” from the experience.

“Now that we have safer tools, we can relax the restrictions without risking users’ mental health,” he stated, implying that ChatGPT will be able to “push boundaries” — safely and consensually.

This policy has been in the works for months. Since February, OpenAI had revised its usage guidelines, allowing room for “sensitive content” in specific contexts. The phrase “only content involving minors is strictly prohibited” opened the door for today’s development.

The new version will come with upgraded safety filters and parental controls, allowing adults to have more personal, realistic, and even emotionally charged interactions with the chatbot.

A ChatGPT with “Personality”

Beyond the more daring themes, Altman also announced a new personalization feature: users will be able to choose a “character” and tone for their ChatGPT.

“If you want a ChatGPT that flirts, jokes, behaves more humanly, or even uses… emojis and romance, you’ll be able to have it — just ask,” he said.

The new version, based on the GPT-4o model, promises livelier conversations, tone variation, and an almost human conversational experience — an approach that brings OpenAI closer to the idea of “emotional artificial intelligence.”

The announcement sparked mixed reactions. Some called it “a revolution in digital intimacy,” while others warned of “a dangerous blurring of boundaries” between human and machine.

Critics point out that just a few months ago, Altman stated that “ChatGPT will never become a sexual bot,” in contrast to Elon Musk’s xAI Grok, which already promotes erotic chats.

The timing of the announcement is not accidental. OpenAI is currently under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the protection of minors and vulnerable users. Meanwhile, a lawsuit in California has reignited debates over mental health and the ethical responsibilities of AI products.

A New Chapter for OpenAI

The company also announced the creation of a Wellbeing and Artificial Intelligence Council, consisting of eight experts who will oversee users’ emotional safety and define the boundaries of healthy interaction.

According to tech analysts, OpenAI is attempting to merge sensuality with safety — aiming to redefine what “intimacy” means in the age of machines.

ChatGPT — now more expressive, authentic, and even sensual — seems poised to open a new chapter in the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence, where conversation stops being just a tool and begins to feel like a connection.
