Zoe Konstantopoulou: She walked out of SKAI after a 2-minute interview because she was asked about Tsipras

“It was the shortest interview of my life,” said host Faye Mavragani

Newsroom October 18 09:45

A brief but intense incident took place on Saturday morning during Faye Mavragani’s live show on SKAI. The leader of the “Course of Freedom” party, Zoe Konstantopoulou, abruptly left the studio, cutting the interview short just a few minutes after it began.

According to what the host said on air, the interview had been scheduled for 8:00 a.m., but the guest arrived around 8:20.

The tension escalated after a question about the upcoming release of Alexis Tsipras’s book titled Ithaca. Zoe Konstantopoulou immediately reacted, saying, “If you keep asking me, I’ll leave,” emphasizing that there were other issues that concerned society. A little later, when the name of Panos Routsis was also mentioned, the leader of “Course of Freedom” again avoided commenting, put down her microphone, and left the set without further explanation.

After a commercial break, Faye Mavragani returned to the studio and addressed the incident, stressing the importance of journalistic inquiry and the role of questions in public dialogue. “It’s not politicians’ job to dictate our questions. We ask what we consider journalistically important, and the guest can choose whether to answer or not. Ms. Konstantopoulou chose to leave,” she said. She then added with a touch of humor: “It was the shortest interview of my life.”

The incident ended there, without any further statements on air. The program continued as scheduled, and by the end of the broadcast, there had been no further comment from the guest.
