OECD: Greece above the European average in digital transformation and AI adoption

Greece's performance compared to other EU countries is encouraging - According to the report, the country outperforms the EU average on many indicators, such as the penetration of AI skills

Newsroom November 10 02:30

The rapid pace of Greece’s transition to digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is confirmed by a recent report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) entitled “Progress in the implementation of the European Union’s coordinated plan for artificial intelligence”.

Our country already has a strategy, the “Blueprint for Greece’s AI Transformation”, designed in 2024 to exploit its comparative advantages in areas such as health, culture, tourism, and sustainability.

Greece’s performance compared to other EU countries is encouraging. According to the report, the country outperforms the EU average on several indicators, including the penetration of AI skills, which indicates that a higher proportion of people in Greece have already acquired AI-related knowledge and skills, providing an important advantage for further development.

At the same time, the country is implementing important initiatives and infrastructures that help digital upgrading. It has established the AI Factory, a national platform designed to transfer knowledge and develop AI applications, while important research units, such as “Archimedes” at “Athena” and “AI Politeia Lab” at “Demokritos”, enhance innovation and basic research.
