Cameras caught Tsitsipas driving his Lotus at 210 km/h on Attiki Odos – He received a digital fine

The 28-year-old tennis player was among the first to receive the digital fine via gov.gr as he was recorded by the new “smart cameras”

Newsroom November 20 11:27

The penalty was heavy for Stefanos Tsitsipas, who was recorded by the new “smart cameras” now installed on the roads, with fines being sent directly through gov.gr.

Specifically, the 28-year-old tennis player was caught by the cameras driving at 210 km/h on Attiki Odos, driving the luxury Lotus car he owns. Of course, he exceeded the speed limit by a large margin and was one of the first to receive a digital ticket from gov.gr. The fine he has to pay amounts to 2,000 euros, and his driver’s license will also be revoked for one year.

Since Monday, the first digital fines have started being sent automatically via gov.gr to drivers caught by the new “smart cameras.” These are the first ten surveillance cameras that have already been installed on major avenues such as Kifisias, Syngrou, and Vouliagmenis, as well as other key points of the road network.

These devices represent the first step in a digital reform aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic accidents. Drivers caught violating the Traffic Code will see all the details of the offense and the fine amount in their personal gov.gr account.

The process will be automatic through special software that recognizes the license plate number, without the need for traditional recording by police officers. Citizens will be notified immediately and can pay the fine electronically, saving time and avoiding bureaucracy.
