Farmers remain at the roadblocks today; they will also shut down ports — There will be consequences, responds Chrysochoidis

In Larissa they threw milk, wheat, and hay – Nikaia has turned into a vast parking lot of tractors – Airports and ports in Crete to close

Newsroom December 2 12:55

The border station of Evzoni was closed by around 100 farmers, who intend to keep it closed until 5 p.m. Farmers and livestock breeders in Crete have decided to close airports and ports starting December 8.
The Nikaia roadblock in Larissa is growing, with hundreds of tractors lined up, shutting down the Athens–Thessaloniki National Road.

Farmers remain at the roadblocks and continue to block roads, while livestock farmers in Crete announced that next week they will proceed with the closure of airports and ports, despite the strict warning from Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis that customs and ports must not be targeted because there will be consequences.

Farmers throw milk, wheat, and hay in central Larissa

Shortly before noon on Tuesday, livestock farmers from Thessaly entered central Larissa with tractors. As a sign of protest against the government’s agricultural policy, they threw milk, wheat, and hay. The demonstration follows ongoing pressure from livestock farmers over issues such as producer prices and production costs.

Where roadblocks are located

Beyond the major roadblocks set up at the Nikaia junction in Larissa, at Malgara in Thessaloniki, and on the E-65 motorway in Karditsa on Monday night, around 100 farmers blocked the Evzoni border station, saying they will keep it closed until 6 p.m. According to reports, they will allow only Greek trucks carrying export goods to exit. At 6 p.m. they will reopen it to ease congestion, and at midnight they will close it again.

At the Malgara tolls, where farmers remain for a second day, traffic toward Athens is still blocked. Farmers say they are not intimidated by threats and will leave only if their demands are met. They also warn they will impose two-hour closures of the lane toward Thessaloniki as well.

The Nikaia roadblock grows stronger

Aerial footage from the Nikaia roadblock in Larissa captures the full scale of the mobilization.
As shown by the drone of Orange Press Agency, the Athens–Thessaloniki National Road has turned into a massive “parking lot” of tractors stretching for kilometers.

The images reveal the mass participation, with the Nikaia roadblock strengthening hour by hour. Hundreds of tractors are tightly lined up, shutting down the crucial highway and sending a strong message to the government.

Crete’s farmers to close ports and airports starting December 8

At the same time, farmers and livestock breeders in Crete have arranged to gather next Monday at Pankritio Stadium at 11:30 a.m. and from there proceed to block airports and ports.

“We make it clear that starting Monday, December 8, the Pancretan Coordinating Committee has decided to shut down ports and airports in Crete. And it should be understood that for as many days as this lasts — and it will be many — we will not accept inspections from OPEKEPE teams,” said Vasilis Manouras, President of the Pancretan Coordinating Committee and President of the Livestock Association of Anogeia, speaking to cretalive.gr.

Under the slogan “the peaceful phase is over,” farmers and livestock breeders aim to send a loud message to the government that they will not tolerate further deception, as their representatives say, and they are determined to escalate their mobilizations.

The protesters emphasize they do not intend to block roads as they did during their previous strike on the BOAK highway, as the inconvenience to the public had been too great.
