Two tankers of Greek interests were reportedly targeted in a drone attack on Black Sea, in a sea area near the port of Novorossiysk, in the early hours of Tuesday (13/03).
This was the Delta Harmony oil tanker operated by Greek Delta Tankers, according to LSEG, and was expected to load oil from Tengizchevroil, as well as the Matilda oil tanker operated by Greek Thenamaris, and was expected to load oil from Karachaganak, the sources added.
So far, it is unclear whether the operation was carried out by aerial drones, maritime drones or a combination of the two.
Early reports indicate that a fire broke out on the Delta Harmony, which, according to the same reports, was quickly brought under control with no further extension.
The two ships were due to load on the CPC, the main export route for Kazakhstan’s oil, but had been temporarily removed to wait their turn to pick up the cargoes, a source told Bloomberg, requesting anonymity. The extent of the damage to both ships was not immediately clear,
Bloomberg reported.
