Agents of the federal police searched today the home of a Washington Post journalist, as a preliminary investigation continues into a possible leak of classified government secrets, according to officials.

The journalist, Hannah Natanson, covered President Donald Trump’s campaign to dismiss thousands of federal employees and to pressure those remaining to implement his administration’s agenda.

In December, Natanson wrote an article describing her personal experience while covering the issue. In it, she referred to the constant phone calls and messages she received from former and current federal employees, angered by the changes.

Natanson was not immediately available for comment. The Washington Post said it is monitoring the situation, according to a spokesperson.

“Agents told the journalist that she is not the focus of the investigation. The warrant stated that law enforcement authorities are investigating a computer systems administrator in Maryland who is accused of having taken classified information home,” according to a post by the newspaper on the X platform.

The FBI and the Department of Justice did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
