Two children, aged 3 and 6, are being treated intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of the “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital due to influenza.
According to reports, the 6-year-old was taken to the hospital this morning, Friday, and is undergoing medical examinations.
The second child, aged 3, was transferred to Athens from Corinth, with doctors determining that intubation was necessary on Thursday night.
The latest information indicates that the 3-year-old is improving and procedures for extubation are expected to begin.
According to the same sources, in recent days approximately 420–430 children with influenza have been presenting at the two children’s hospitals, a figure slightly lower than during the Christmas period, when the number had reached around 500.
