Stefi: ‘The song I sent to Eurovision is about the unity of people across Europe

The singer will present her song in the first semi-final of Sing for Greece 2026 on February 11

Newsroom January 24 12:45

Stefi spoke about Eurovision and the song she sent, aiming to represent Greece, which is titled “Europa.”

The singer said she was not a big Eurovision fan but felt the conditions were right to participate this year. According to her interview on the show Proian se eidon on Friday, January 23, her song is about the unity of the peoples of Europe and about respect.

Stefi said about the song she submitted for the contest: “The song talks about the unity of the peoples of Europe. Europe is the continent with the longest history and historical culture and has common roots, which is something that unites us all anyway, and people have great power, and when united, they can achieve anything.” She then explained how her participation came about: “I used to watch Eurovision from a young age, not obsessively but I liked it. It happened. The song was nice, I trusted my collaborators and they trusted me, so it all happened.”

The song “Europa” also refers to respect, with the singer saying about this: “I consider respect very precious, even more than love, because many things have happened in the name of love, but respect is above all. Everyone deserves respect. I have felt that sometimes I was not respected, and I didn’t like it.”

In another part of the interview, Stefi talked about her origins and family: “I come from Tripoli in Arcadia, from a nice village called Magoula. I lived there until I left for studies; that’s where my family home is. Generally, my parents listen to a lot of music, and my brother and I have many musical influences from different genres, folk, classical, everything,” she said.

Although music was always part of her life in some way, the singer explained that she was shy to sing when she was young and even today hasn’t fully overcome how she feels when exposed: “I was shy when I started singing. I felt exposed in front of people. It is exposure. Even now, I get shy to sing alone at home,” she said.
