The owner of the Violanta factory and two additional company executives were arrested after the tragedy involving five women who lost their lives in Trikala.
According to information, the owner is charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing an explosion, arson by negligence, and causing bodily harm.
How the tragedy happened
The fire broke out in the early hours of Monday, shortly before 4:00 a.m., and burned part of the factory’s wing. A short time earlier, a powerful explosion had occurred in the basement of the factory’s main building, which is located on the Trikala–Karditsa national highway.
