Santorini resort amongst National Geographic Society’s Top 24 ‘unique lodges’

South Africa hosts three sites on the list

The National Geographic Society this week announced its “Unique Lodges of the World” list, which includes one resort in Greece, the Kapari Natural Resort on the iconic volcano island of Santorini.

The list includes three sites in South Africa out of a total of 24 properties around the world.

Criteria employed by National Geographic Society are quality offered to guests, in tandem with preserving the surrounding area’s cultural and natural heritage — and all within a model of sustainable tourism.

Here are the world’s top lodges, according to the Society:

The Brando, Austraila

Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort, Canada

Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, South Africa

Southern Ocean Lodge, Australia

Tierra Atacama Hotel Spa, Chile

The Ranch at Rock Creek, United States

Rubundo Island Camp, Tanzania
